It has been almost nine years since Hamilton High School has been beaten at home. On Thursday, September 12, Pinnacle High School, a fellow Arizona school, scared the Huskies, almost breaking the record that started back in October 2004.
After a scoreless first quarter, Pinnacle the lead with an early second quarter field goal. Senior Tyrell Smith responded for the Huskies, punching in a 1-yard touchdown rush after a 72-yard drive.
The Pioneers started the second half off with a touchdown to take a 10-7 lead. Hamilton came right back down with senior Jerrion Acles rushing in at 5-yards out, only to have Pinnacle take the lead back with a touchdown in their next drive.
Hamilton entered the fourth quarter down 17-14, uncommon ground for the Huskies. Frankie Bueno did not waste any time getting the lead back for Hamilton. The senior wide receiver took a handoff and rushed the ball 62 yards down the field for a touchdown, 21-17 Hamilton.
Both teams finished the game with a field goal each, leaving the score line at 24-20 for the Huskies.
This win bumps Hamilton up to 13th place in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings. Now the Huskies prepare for their match at Liberty High School on September 20 at 7:00p.
